Installing / Upgrading

How do I install the Medmont AT20R software or upgrade from a previous version?

If you don't have an installation CD for Medmont AT20R, click here to download the newest version of our AT20R software.

If you are installing AT20R v2.0 for the first time on a Windows XP (or earlier) PC, you will also need to download and install the Microsoft .NET Framwork v2 installer, available here (install this before installing the AT20R software). If you are running Windows Vista, you will not need to install the framework (it is built into the operating system).

After insterting your CD or downloading the installer from our web site, run the file or CD setup, choosing the default options throughout the installer. When finished, close the installer. You will now see a new icon on your desktop called 'AT20R'. Double-click the icon to start the installation wizard; here you will configure the Medmont AT20R software for your particular handset and environment. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your viewing distance, screen calibration and Stereo Viewing setup.

Bluetooth Connection Issues

I am receiving an error when I try to open Medmont AT20R; "The AT20R software could not find the BlueTooth Dongle".
Issue in opening the Medmont AT20R application after the AT20R and the software were upgraded to version 3.0.0

I am receiving an error when I try to open Medmont AT20R; "The AT20R software could not find the BlueTooth Dongle".

It is quite common for Windows XP to install the wrong driver when you insert the Medmont AT20R Bluetooth Dongle.

To see if this is the case, open the Control Panel, then click into System > Hardware > Device Manager. From here, you may see a section at the top called 'Bluetooth Radios', with a device inside called 'Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator' or 'Generic Bluetooth Radio'. If so, Windows has installed its own driver in error.
To resolve the issue, right-click on the item 'Generic Bluetooth Radio', then choose 'Update Driver', and elect to manually search your computer for the appropriate driver. When prompted, select 'CSR BlueCore BlueTooth as the correct driver from the list, then proceed and complete the wizard.

You will now find the device name 'CSR Bluecore Bluetooth' in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section rather than the Bluetooth Radios section. Your device is now installed correctly. Restart your PC and double click on the AT20R icon to begin using your software.

After my Medmont AT20R handset and software were upgraded to version 3.0.0, I receive the following error when using the handheld locator wizard to reconnect to the handset; “The selected device is not a valid AT20R. Please review your documentation for the correct Bluetooth ID”.

The most recent version of the Medmont AT20R handset (version 3.0.0 or later) works with the generic Microsoft Bluetooth stack instead of the CSR Bluecore Bluetooth stack for communication. As a result, the generic Microsoft Bluetooth drivers need to be installed and the below steps outline this process:

  • Close the AT20 application if it is still running.
  • Select Start > Control Panel, if category view is enabled, click Performance and Maintenance, then double click on the System icon to access System Properties.
  • Select the hardware tab and then click Device Manager.
  • Find the CSR BlueCore Bluetooth device under Universal Serial Bus controller, right click on the device and select update driver.
  • The Hardware Update wizard will now display for the CSR BlueCore Bluetooth device. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), then click next to continue.
  • At the next prompt, select Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install and click next.
  • Next, the hardware update wizard will ask you to select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. Click Have Disk.
  • Insert the AT20 3.0.0 CD. If you are missing this CD, please download the bth.zip file from here, then extract the contained file to a known location (ie: desktop).
  • At the Install From Disk prompt, select browse. Select the AT20 3.0.0 CD from the Look in drop down box, double click on the Driver folder and click Open. If you do not have the CD, browse to the location of where you extracted bth.inf file earlier and click Open. Click OK to continue.
  • The hardware update wizard will once again ask you to select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. This time, three devices will be listed. Select Generic Bluetooth Radio and click next.
  • The Hardware Update Wizard will proceed to install the drivers. Once the installation is complete, the Hardware Update Wizard will report, The wizard has finished installing the software for: Generic Bluetooth Radio. Click Finish.
  • A second Hardware Update Wizard will display a short time later, asking to install the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator. Confirm that Install the software automatically is already selected and click next.
  • If prompted by the Hardware Update Wizard to Please select the best match for your hardware from the list below, leave the default driver selected and click next.
  • Once the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator drivers have installed, the Hardware Update Wizard will report, The wizard has finished installing the software for: Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator. Click Finish.
  • The driver update will now be complete. Check that device manager has two Bluetooth Radio listed; Generic Bluetooth Radio and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator.
  • Run the AT20 application again to connect to your handset.
