Trouble Installing E300 Instrument
How do I install the Leutron capture card for use with E300 Corneal Topographer?
Generally, we will send someone out to your practice to install the leutron card and E300 instrument on your PC, but if you should need to do so yourself, simply install it as you would any other PCI card. If you do not have experience in safely opening your PC and installing PCI devices, please contact your IT professional for assistance.
Please note that the Medmont Studio software installation should be complete BEFORE installing the Leutron video capture device.
After you have installed the PCI card, turn on your PC and follow the 'Found New Hardware' wizard to install the device 'Leutron Vision PicPort' (this is the device name for your Leutron capture card). Your capture card is now installed.

Error Message/s When Starting a New Exam
Error: 'This instrument does not yet have a calibration'
Error: 'Could not get grabber: 'PicPort Colour'
I have installed my software and Leutron video capture card, but now when I click on the icon to start a new exam, I am prompted with the error, 'This instrument does not yet have a calibration'.
In order to use your E300, a calibration file written specifically for your topographer will need to be loaded into Medmont Studio. This file is provided on a CD when you purchase your topographer.
Click Ok to locate your calibration file. Insert the calibration disc and browse to your PC's CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and locate the file called 'Exxxxx.cal' (where xxxxxx is your topographer's serial number). Select the file and click Open.
You will now be able to click the 'Create a new E300 Exam' icon from Medmont Studio to launch a new exam.

When I try to start a new exam, I receive the error 'Could not get grabber: PicPort Colour' or 'Please Reinstall Daisy' and I am unable to proceed.
These errors indicate that Medmont Studio is not able to communicate with your Leutron video capture card. To resolve the issue, the driver for your topographer (called 'Leutron Vision PicPort' in Device Manager) will need to be installed and the physical Leutron card will need to be checked to make sure it is still correctly installed and seated.
If you are unsure about how to go about either of these steps, please contact your IT professional for assistance.

Problem/s while in Exam Window
Part of exam analysis missing
Flicker or Hangs in Capture Window
I have captured and analyzed an image but the analysis is missing in a large section of the eye.
Your E300 software needs to be able to clearly identify the central ring to provide a good analysis.
Typically, the clinician is meant to check that the central ring can be clearly distinguished when capturing images - the raw images are displayed for this purpose. If , for example, the central ring is obliterated by a cut or abrasion, you can get the patient to look slightly up or down or to the side until you get a clear image of the central ring.

I am experiencing flicker or hangs when I open up a capture window. How do I eliminate these?
With certain PCI chipsets, flickering and/or hangs may be experienced. In order to solve the problem, the video sequencer must be disabled. We have generated a registry disabler to achieve this.
Run the file "SequencerDisable.reg" located in the Leutron sub directory of your setup CD to disable the video sequencer.
The video sequencer can be re-enabled by running "SequencerEnable.reg" in the same directory.

Other / Clinical Qs
How can I measure Horizontal Visible Iris Diameter (HVID) in an E300 exam?
HVID measurements can be taken and annotated quickly and easily using the Ruler Annotation tool. To access the Ruler Annotation tool, click the Image menu, then choose Annotate > Ruler. Click the start and end points between which you wish to measure. A readout will appear (measured in mm).
I measured a patient with a keratoconus, when I view the exam as a Perspective Colour Map, the picture doesn’t show the bulge.
The perspective view by default shows the eye to scale. Typically however significant clinical conditions cannot be observed like this. To enhance the variations from spherical you can use the "Perspective Scaling" option under the image options dialog. (Image>Image Options) and adjust the perspective scaling accordingly to demonstrate the shape of the eye.
