Before attempting to configure DICOM in Medmont Studio please ensure the following;
  • You have Medmont Studio 5.2.0 or later installed
  • If using a version of Studio before V6 then you will need to obtain a DICOM license key from Medmont. Ensure the license is entered and DICOM appears in the list of licensed components

The DICOM interface can be seperated into main parts;
  • Connection to a Worklist Server for obtaining scheduled jobs which include patient information
  • Connection to a Picture Archiving and Communications Server (PACS) for storage of digital images

All of the information required to configure these two connections is via the Preferences window which is accessable by pressing the Preferences button located on the Configure tab of the main ribbon menu.

Configuring a connection to a Worklist server...

Navigate to Common Settings tab, select DICOM, select Worklist

  • AE Title - The name given to the Application Entity which will provide query and retrieve capability for work items
  • Storage Area - The name of the storage area allocated to storing all the entered work items
  • Host - Machine host name or IP address of the computer which is hosting the Worklist server
  • Port - The assigned TCP port number of the Worklist server

Configuring a connection to a PACS...

Navigate to Common Settings tab, select DICOM, select PACS

  • AE Title - The name given to the Application Entity which will provide storeage of digital images
  • Storage Area - The name of the storage area allocated to storing digital images
  • Host - Machine host name or IP address of the computer which is hosting the PACS
  • Port - The assigned TCP port number of the PACS

Once the settings have been entered you can use the Test Connection button to check that the settings are correct.
After confirming the connection details are correct press the Apply button to accept the new settings then press OK to close the preferences window.
